We had such a wonderful day on the traditional fishing boat! The boat was beautiful and had so much character. We caught several fish and the crew cooked them for lunch - it was delicious! Swimming in the crystal clear water was so refreshing. The crew was incredibly friendly and patient, teaching us how to fish. This was a relaxing, authentic experience away from the busy tourist spots. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a genuine taste of Thai island life!

What to Expect on the Samui Day Trip

Morning Check-in & Departure: After pickup and pier arrival, board the boat and head out around 09:30–09:40.

First Fishing Spot: About 30 minutes of cruising brings you to the first reef or sand-bottom area; the crew prepares rods and bait, then everyone gets a chance to cast and wait for bites.

Midday Break & Swim: At one of the better spots the captain anchors longer so you can jump into the sea for a swim in emerald-green water before or after more fishing.

Lunch: The crew cleans some of the catch and serves a hot/cold lunch with fish, salads, rice and fruit while anchored or gently drifting.

Afternoon Fishing: Another round of relaxed fishing at a different location for those who still want to try their luck, while others can sunbathe or enjoy the views.

Return: The boat turns back towards Samui, usually reaching the pier around 15:30–16:00, where your driver waits to take you back to your accommodation.

Important Information Before You Book

Who It Suits: Great for beginners, families and casual anglers; this is light bottom fishing in relatively shallow water, not big-game trolling far offshore.

Catch Expectations: Usual catches are medium-size reef and sand fish (rock cod, whiting, smaller reef species) that are tasty for lunch but not trophy-sized.

Swimming: At least one stop for swimming in clear water; life jackets available, guests should be comfortable using a ladder to enter/exit the sea.

Boat & Comfort: The wooden boat offers shaded areas and basic but well-kept facilities including toilets; slower and more stable than a speedboat but can still rock with waves.

Health: Not recommended in rough seas for pregnant guests or people with serious back/neck problems.

What to Bring:

  • Hat, sunglasses and reef-safe sunscreen
  • Light clothes and swimwear
  • Towel
  • Camera or phone
  • Personal snacks if desired
  • Seasickness tablets if you are sensitive
