What to Expect on the Private Day Trip
Pickup & Pier: Morning option collection around 08:00–08:30 or afternoon option around 12:30–13:00. Travel by private air-conditioned vehicle to a pier in the south of Koh Samui.
Boat Ride & First Stop: The boat leaves around 09:00 or 14:00 and reaches the first island after roughly 20–25 minutes in normal sea conditions. At Koh Tan, the captain anchors near the reef and you can snorkel in clear, shallow water with free equipment to look for tropical fish and coral.
Pig Island Time: A short hop brings you to Koh Madsum, a low-key island with a sandy beach, chill vibe and resident pigs wandering near the shore. Swim, walk the beach, relax on the sand and take photos with the animals before returning to the boat.
Return Journey: After island time, the crew takes you back to the south coast and your driver returns you to your accommodation. Typical arrival is around 13:30–14:00 for morning outings and 18:30–19:00 for afternoon charters, depending on conditions.

Private: Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a private charter or a shared tour?
This is a fully private charter. Only your group is on the boat. You set the pace and decide how long to stay at each stop.
How many people can fit on the longtail boat?
The longtail boat comfortably fits groups of up to 10 people.
Is this suitable for families with young children?
Yes. A private charter lets you go at your own pace, which is ideal for families. The water at the snorkeling spots is calm and shallow.
What is included in the charter price?
Hotel pickup and drop-off, private longtail boat with captain, snorkeling equipment, and the full half-day itinerary to Koh Tan and Pig Island.
Is lunch included?
Check the inclusions list for this specific tour. Bring cash for any food or drinks not included.
Where does the boat depart from?
The boat departs from a pier in the south of Koh Samui. Hotel pickup is included from all major areas.
Can I choose morning or afternoon?
Yes. Morning departures start around 08:00 AM and afternoon departures around 12:30 PM. Select your preferred time when booking.
What is snorkeling in Koh Samui like at Koh Tan and Pig Island?
Snorkeling in Koh Samui’s south is centred on Koh Tan and Koh Madsum (Pig Island), two small islands about 4 km offshore and roughly 20–25 minutes away by boat. The captain anchors near Koh Tan’s reef, where the water is clear, calm and shallow — comfortable for beginners and children — and you snorkel with free mask and snorkel to look for tropical fish and coral. These are the closest reef snorkeling spots to Koh Samui, so the water is gentler than the deeper dive sites further out in the Gulf. Because this is a private charter, your group sets its own pace and can stay in the water as long as you like.
Other Private Tours from Koh Samui
Enjoy Koh Samui's southside islands on your own terms with a private boat charter to Koh Tan and Pig Island. Travel with just your group on a longtail or speedboat, snorkel at quiet reef spots, meet the pigs on Koh Madsum and decide whether you prefer a relaxed morning or an easygoing afternoon departure.
Prefer a shared boat with kayaking and Thai lunch? Compare it with our Pig Island Koh Samui speedboat day trip from Koh Samui. Want the same private trip but faster between the islands? See our private speedboat charter to Koh Tan and Pig Island — same two islands, less time getting between them.
Prefer Pig Island with a small group instead of a private charter? Our VIP longtail small-group tour to Pig Island and Koh Tan keeps things intimate on a scheduled departure, with the same reef stop at Koh Tan and beach time with the pigs on Koh Madsum.
Ready for a longer day and deeper reefs? Our speedboat day trip to Koh Tao and Koh Nang Yuan from Koh Samui crosses about 65 km north of Samui for at least two snorkeling sessions at sites like Mango Bay or Japanese Garden, plus free time on the three-sandbar beach of Koh Nang Yuan and the optional 15-minute climb to its viewpoint — hotel pickup 07:30–08:30, back 17:00–18:00, Thai lunch on Koh Tao included.
Still weighing up private versus join-in? You can view every Pig Island and Koh Madsum boat trip from Koh Samui on one page — the shared speedboat day trip, the small-group VIP longtail, the sunset boat with dinner and the private longtail and speedboat charters — with prices side by side.
